Diesel and Bio Diesel Fuel

At Tarplett Generator Services we can offer a fuel testing service, with reports coupled with a preventative maintenance programme and solution for storage tanks to help address the problem before it becomes critical.

For a generator Company, we are quite unique as we try and support our customer base from start to finish when it comes to their generator project, and for some clients, this includes to provision and management of fuel for their generator.

We are unique as we are an approved RDCO (Registered Dealer of Controlled Oils), meaning that we are able to order, deliver and provide you with gas oil without the need of a 3rd party company.

Typically this has meant the supply of red diesel also known as gas oil, however as of April 2022, things are changing when it comes to the use of red diesel, with drastic reforms to the supply of controlled gas oil having been approved in parliament.

These reforms are part of the Government’s commitment to end its contribution to climate change by 2050, and in addition clean up the air pollution.

These changes this brings to the industry, means that for the vast majority of clients currently using red diesel, a change will be required, however at TGS we are one-step ahead of the game, investing in a green diesel named HVO and making sure we are ready to embrace the changes heading our way. As the UK Government, we too are committed to be able to improve our carbon emission and air quality.

We have worked proactively for the past 12 months ensuring that the vast majority of Kohler engines are approved to be ran on HVO as a sole fuel.

And whilst red diesel will still be available for a handful of industries, such as agriculture and hospitals, we will be able to support the remainder of our client base pro-actively, so please do not hesitate to contact us about the red diesel reforms.

What is HVO?

HVO or is a premium, high quality diesel fuel made from renewable, sustainable raw materials – all which do not release any new CO2 into the atmosphere.

HVO is part of the paraffinic family of fuels which are stable, renewable, sustainable and high quality, making it perfectly suited for a wide range of applications including vehicles, generators and industrial power systems. It meets EN 15940 standards and Fuel Quality Directive 2009/30/EC Annex II so can be used as a direct, drop-in alternative to mineral diesel without modifications to infrastructure or high initial investments
